EXECUTIVE PROTECTION DOGSDescriptionOur Executive Protection Program is about recognizing the nature of threats today, and using a dog for protection accordingly. These include the use of Advanced Handler Protection Strategies as well as Advanced Fighting Skills. Nature of Threats TodayThe most common threat today in most locations in North America as well as Europe is home invasion followed by armed robbery. The two threats have two things in common. The first is the distance in which the assault takes place. The second is if your dog needs to be used to protect he or she will in all likelihood be required not only just to bite but to fight the perpetrator(s). We propose that's a potential problem if you’re relying upon traditional protection dog training. Distance and TimeWe know that most assaults take place from a distance of approximately 12 to 20 feet away. That it takes approximately 2 seconds for an attacker to cover that distance. When using a dog trained in traditional protection dog program your defense requires four steps: I. Recognize the threat and formulate a response. II. Instruct your dog to attack. III. Your dog must process your command and initiate the response (begin their attack). IV. Time to cover the required distance to attack. This is the same criteria used to evaluate any form of defense within the security or executive protection field. At this stage it is simply a matter of mathamatics. Recognizing a threat and responding may be automatic and seem instantaneous, but its not. It takes 5/8 of a second for your brain to recognize the threat and initiate a response. That's if your response is automatic. That's not time to strategize. Your dog requires the same synapse within his or her brain to connect the incoming information with the appropriate response. Therefore the same 5/8 of a second to hear your command and initiate a response. Already just the simple brain function of owner and dog has taken 1.2 seconds. Unfortunately, there is only 6/8 of one second left. A second is pretty quick, and seems instantaneous. We haven't even calculated the time it takes your dog to cover whatever distance is needed and actually attack. You're out of time. At least with traditional dog training. Again, this understanding is applied across the board in evaluating the efficacy of a particular form of defense. That is why anyone trained in executive protection, or the tactical use of handguns in self-defense, knows if your defense relies upon pulling your gun out of its holster and shooting, you too are out of time. We recommend watching a video that demonstrates this issue while using handguns by Clicking Here. Advanced TrainingWhat sets the Executive Protection Dog program apart from Protection Dog Basics 1, 2 or 3 or training programs offered elsewhere are what we consider to be two essentials: First is advanced fighting skills which provide the nessesary skills to manage an attacker. The second essential is our Advanced Handler Protection Exercises, with the “Secure” exercise being at the core of the program. The “Secure” exercise solves the problems of time and distance. Owners are taught their first reaction in any situation is to move. Specifically, to get off the line of attack and create distance. As you begin to move you issue the command to “Secure”, your dog then performs five separate behaviors as a result of the one command: I. Your dog immediately runs to your side. II. Your dog turns-on aggressively (shows agression towards the potential threat). III. Remains by your side “turned-on” until told otherwise. IV. Moves with you forward, backwards or sideways without the need to hold their collar of leash. V. Your dog will position himself or herself between your body and the threat. Our Executive Protection Dogs will remain by your side without biting unless instructed to attack, or unless the person tries to assault you in which case the attack is automatic. This means you focus on what’s most important: getting yourself and family into the safest place possible. While your focus is on what’s most important to you, your dog’s focus is on protecting you. Even when picking up the children to go into the house, or bedroom or where ever safehaven happens to be, your dog will actually remain by your side, turned on, facing the threat even if it requires doing so while walking backwards. FightingMost criminals today are armed. Once inside a home most are pretty committed to following through with their plans. We know from K9 law enforcement that it is not uncommon for criminals to fight a dog rather then give up. This often is possible because they are oblivious to pain as a result of narcotics. In a home invasion type situation it would probably mean your dog being hit, thrown into tables and against walls and anything else they can think of doing to prevent the attack from happening and stopping it once it does. Biting is not enough. Advanced fighting skills are needed. CPI Training for Your DogOur Executive Protection Dog program is extremely comprehensive. Also important, and perhaps reassuring to know, is that our approach to training is extremely pleasurable for dogs. Think of an six year old at the gates of Disney World just before it opens! Your dog's time away from home will be pure pleasure. EvaluationsWhile all dogs are capable of going through our Obedience Complete by CPI program (regardless of breed or age), not all dogs are capable of functional protection training. We offer an evaluation at no charge to clients who bring their dogs to us at our facility just outside of Boston in Methuen, Massachusetts. For dogs shipped to us there is a $500.00 charge for the time involved with pick-up and delivery to the airport. If your dog is accepted into any one of our programs, including obedience, the $500.00 charge is credited towards the price of the program. Our office staff will be happy to make the necessary arrangements for air transportation. We offer ground transportation for pets located within New England, New York and New Jersey. Price: $12,500.00 For clients who have already had their dog trained in Protection Dog Basics I, the cost of the program is the difference in price between Protection Dog Basics I and the Executive Protection Dog program ($6,000.00). For clients who have already had their dog trained in Protection Dog Basics II, the cost of the program is the difference in price between Protection Dog Basics II and the Executive Protection Dog program ($4,500.00). For clients who have already had their dog trained in Protection Dog Basics III, the cost of the program is the difference in price between Protection Dog Basics III and the Executive Protection Dog program ($3,000.00). CPI Fully Trained Dogs For SaleWe offer fully trained adult German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, imported from Europe, and trained in our Executive Protection Dog program. The dogs we select for our programs are all dogs we would enjoy owning ourselves. They are selected based on their natural ability, temperament, personality and appearance. All of our dogs are thoroughly evaluated by our vets both in Europe and in Boston. We include a 6 to 12 month unconditional satisfaction guarantee and a 12 to 24 month health guarantee. The purchase of a fully trained Executive Protection Dog includes personal delivery by one of our senior staff over a three day period. Price: $25,000.00 VisitorsWe do welcome questions about our training and fully-trained dogs anytime. If you are visiting Boston we encourage you to stop by and visit our training center. Visitors are invited to stay as long as they wish so they can experience first hand “behind the scenes at CPI”. While prospective owners are always invited to visit we have designed a process for purchasing a dog that does not require having to travel to Boston. We believe our clients will end up with the same dog whether they visit us or not. That is the result of a process we have developed over the years. That process starts with understanding your specific needs, as well as personal preferences. The best way to start that process is by filling out our questionnaire for first time owners. We remove any risk in the process by providing an unconditional satisfaction guarantee. We ensure your complete satisfaction by having one of our senior staff personally deliver your dog, acclimate him or her to your home and family, customize the training on-site as needed and then provide handling instruction to insure the highest level of performance. |
