Naked Obedience

Naked Dog Training™ by CPI

There are many reasons to train your dog, even more so with our Naked Obedience Training™ program. Your dog will enjoy greater freedom while you enjoy your pet’s newly acquired impeccable manners and complete off-leash reliability. Your dog will respond to your command said once in a normal tone.

For Owners Who Enjoy Having Their Dogs Off-Leash

For dog owners who enjoy seeing their dogs off-leash, Naked Dog Training™ is about joy and freedom. It’s about that moment the leash is taken off and your dog begins to run with playful abandon, whether at a dog park on in the backyard. It’s worth enduring the heat of summer and the cold of winter to see the change in your dog’s personality! Naked Dog Training extends that joy and freedom into everyday life, only with manners and complete off-leash control.

For Owners Who Will Never Take Their Dogs Off-Leash

Few dogs wear a leash in their homes. Therefore, almost every dog spends most of his days off-leash. Life is a whole lot easier, and enjoyable, when your dog is a Naked Dog™!

For owners who are satisfied with their dog’s behavior off-leash (at home), and simply want functional obedience on-leash, we are happy to be of service. As an alternative, owners may start with an on-leash program and then move into off-leash training.

What Exactly is Naked Dog Training?

First and foremost, Naked Dog Training is about functional results. When your dog returns home he or she returns as a “Nearly Naked Dog” (complete off-leash control while wearing a collar). Once your dog’s performance off-leash has been maintained for a period you can transition to having a “Naked Dog” (off-leash control without the need for a leash or collar).

Naked Dog Training is also about the approach we take to achieve complete off-leash control. Your dog’s enjoyment of the process of learning is as important to us as the end result. Naked Dog Training - Basics $2,495

Our Naked Obedience Basics is a two-week program that teaches impeccable manners and complete off-leash control. In addition to obedience and manners we address common behavioral problems ranging from jumping and chewing to more extreme ones such as dog aggression and aggression towards people.

Obedience Exercises

The obedience exercises included in our Naked Obedience Basics are:

  • “Come-On” (temporarily follow)
  • “Easy” (walk ahead of you on a slack leash)
  • “With-Me” (remain within two feet – a relaxed heel)
  • “Sit”
  • “Sit–Stay”
  • “Down”
  • “Down-Stay”
  • “Bedtime” (lay in specific area and remain there such as a bed)
  • “Here” (formal command to come)
  • “Come Here” (informal command to come)

Impeccable Manners

Impeccable manners include “Wait” (at doorways, curbs), jump only on-command (or not at all if preferred), stop barking on-command (or not at all if preferred).

Naked Obedience - Extended $4,495

Our Naked Obedience Extended is our most comprehensive training program. It includes the same exercises as our Naked Obedience and then adds the sit-in-motion, down-in-motion, heel and Naspo (informal heel).

You will have the ability to instruct your dog to instantly “down” wherever your dog happens to be, and regardless of what he or she happens to be doing. While our “With Me” command instructs your dog to be within a two foot radius the formal “heel” command keeps your dog precisely at your left knee.

Getting Started - Clients Outside of New England

For clients outside New England, the first step is to contact our training center to schedule a time to speak with one of our senior trainers. We want to understand your dog, his or her present level of training, as well as any behavioral problems. That information, along with an idea of your dog’s personality, will help us to provide you with an idea of what may be required for training, including length of time and cost. We will not know for sure until we see your dog in person.

We ask that you fill out our training questionnaire before the scheduled conversation with a senior trainer.

For owners in New England, New York City and the surrounding areas of New Jersey we offer pick-up service for an additional charge. For owners outside of these areas, our staff will gladly arrange air transportation (domestic and international).

Once your dog’s training is complete, you may come to our training center for handling instruction and return home with your dog. We will be happy to arrange for a member of our senior staff to travel with your dog for his or her return and then to provide on-site handling instruction. Naturally there is an additional charge for this service.
