Canine Protection International was founded in May 1996 by John H. Whittaker. Before its formation, John spent nearly 20 years importing German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois from Europe for top producing breeders, law enforcement and dog sport competitors. During this time John trained, and had working relationships, with Europe’s most accomplished trainers in dog sports, law enforcement (including elite K9 Assault Units) and industrial K9 security.
It was the notion to import the finest dogs Europe had to offer, combined with the most advanced training available anywhere, that inspired John. It was with this inspiration, and a belief that there were enough people who would want such dogs if they knew they were available, that the business was born and has flourished.
Established as Canine Protection Services, it was then incorporated as Canine Industries, a Massachusetts corporation, and does business as Canine Protection International to reflect our growing international clientele.
For more information on this advanced training, and its development, please see our Background section.
